Dreaming of using your embedded software skills in a way that has a real positive climate impact? In a small team where you directly influence the result? And are you up for some hard technical challenges?
E-bikes and micromobility are exploding worldwide. We are committed to becoming a central part of that transformation with clever sensor technology. If you are eager to work on smarter-than-average analog/digital/software development and have a real impact on the climate – we should talk.
Following a pivot from sports-focused sensors to e-bikes, things are starting to move fast. We offer a great opportunity for an energetic multi-disciplinary analog hardware / embedded software development engineer. You will be key in leading the development of new patent-pending sensor technology.
The experience from sensors in the bike industry is expected to be utilized in other related businesses where digital information and control systems are used as well. We have a clear strategy and focus on e-bikes and micromobility for now, but see huge opportunities in other applications on the longer perspective
About you
You are an innovative person, with a passion for how electronics, software, and physics can be applied to create the optimum solution with better sensors. You understand the importance of structured software development and how to get the most out of limited hardware resources in a small embedded system.
You find great energy in optimizing the technology, implementation details, development process, and manufacturing in parallel. Scaling up a business with the perfect match between solutions and volumes at all levels. All in the tightest team possible with lots of freedom to get things done without a lot of overhead.
Behind you is a number of successful development projects for products based on embedded systems in various forms.
We are looking for a profile:
- With experience in embedded software development
- With confidence in reading schematics, working in the lab, and helping select the best electronic parts
- Who is confident in dealing with customers at the technical level (engineers, designers, B2B only)
- Who is self-driven and good at getting things done
- Who likes working in a small (but growing) team
Danish is would be a great plus combined with at least decent English skills. Alternatively, excellent English is required.
About the job
You will be working with small inexpensive microcontrollers tightly coupled with dedicated analog hardware to create the most robust, simple, and inexpensive sensor system possible to beat all other torque/angle sensing systems for this market. This is based on patent-pending technology combining RFID-like wireless power/data transfer with temperature compensated strain gauge measurements, and an innovative angle sensing technique. More innovation (and patents) are expected and you are going to be a key part of this.
To support the technology development, you will also work on higher-level software to run test systems for both in-house design validation and manufacturing testing. This includes torque, angle, rotational speed testers as well as demonstration setups showing what the ideal e-bike feels like to ride.
For each customer (typically e-bike motor manufacturers) there is a unique set of requirements including interfacing to motor controllers and bike control computers. Your job will include communication with the customers for finding the best interface solution and implementing this for the sensor.
To stay in touch with the market and the customers, some travel may be needed (typically for bike/mobility shows and customers).
Practical
The position is full-time. Salary is competitive and the board is working on adding a warrant program for key employees.
You will be working at our facilities in the inspirational start-up community at Symbion based at Fruebjergvej 3, 2100 Cophenhagen. This includes the usual perks like a fitness room, good coffee, canteen, Friday bar, parties, easy parking (but who cares about car parking these days?), etc.
